Hi!

My name is Julie, I’m a meditation and yoga teacher and this is my story.

After an intense few years in London media, I was exhausted. I ran around the city like a headless chicken, my job always in my back pocket. I had started yoga when I was nineteen to improve back pain from my scoliosis, but the more intense my job became, the more I felt the need to drop in to a yoga class, and my practice soon became a daily thing to look forward to.

After much hand-wringing about my career and my future, I decided to throw it all in the bin, and go to Asia to study yoga and meditation. I have been a student and teacher of yoga ever since. I went into silent meditation at the Wat Pa Tam Wua monastery in Northern Thailand, and became a certified RYT 500 Yoga Teacher, studied Yin Yoga and attended a meditation teacher training in Rishikesh, India. In February 2020, I started the process to become a certified personal trainer.

I taught at the Marnes recovery resort in Spain until February 2020. In Belgium, I teach a weekly small group class in Lebbeke, as well as private clients in Brussels.

After a few years of teaching I decided to focus my work on sleep and rest. As part of this work, I am currently developing an audio course ‘The Power of Powernaps’.

If you’d like to find me online, I stream yogaclasses three mornings a week at Insight Timer. You can also follow me on Instagram for sleep and relaxation tips in English and in Dutch.

About Marnes

Marnes is a small-scale medical resort, specialising in residential multidisciplinary treatment for those with a lowered quality of life as a result of depression, post-traumatic stress, chronic fatigue syndrome, burn-out, fibromyalgia, chronic intestinal issues or chemotherapy.

Together with a medical team and a personal trainer, I designed the yoga and relaxation program at Marnes. The program is based on the Trauma-Sensitive Yoga principles developed by Elizabeth Hopper and David Emerson.
